Exploring Turkey: A Sailing Adventure Along the Turquoise Coast
Turkey’s Turquoise Coast, with its stunning azure waters and rich history, has long been a dream destination for many sailors, including myself. This year, I embarked on a journey along this beautiful stretch of the Mediterranean, experiencing Turkey's unique blend of natural beauty, historical richness, and cultural vibrancy.
My journey began in Bodrum, a city known for its ancient ruins and vibrant nightlife. I planned to sail eastward from Bodrum, stopping at several iconic locations along the Turquoise Coast, including Marmaris, Fethiye, Kaş, and finally Antalya. The primary goal of this voyage was to explore the historical sites, enjoy the natural beauty, and immerse myself in the local culture.
Setting sail from Bodrum, the first leg of my journey took me to Marmaris, a picturesque town nestled between pine-covered hills and the sparkling sea. Bodrum was a delightful start, with its ancient castle and the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
As I sailed into Marmaris, I was struck by the town’s charm. The marina was bustling, and the waterfront promenade was lined with cafes and shops. Exploring the city, I visited the Marmaris Castle, which offered stunning harbor views. The town’s vibrant nightlife also provided a lively contrast to the serene sailing experience.

I also took a day trip to the ancient city of Tlos and the stunning Saklikent Gorge, both offering a glimpse into Turkey’s rich history and natural wonders.
