My voyage to Salvador aboard the Ocean Dreamer was a journey into the heart of Brazil's rich cultural tapestry. Here’s a glimpse into my adventure in this vibrant city.
Our journey to Salvador began with an exhilarating sail along Brazil’s northeastern coast. As we approached the city, the skyline of Salvador came into view, dominated by the historic district of Pelourinho and the towering spires of its churches. We anchored the Ocean Dreamer in the calm waters of the Bay of All Saints, the largest bay in Brazil, offering a stunning backdrop for our stay.

Our first destination was Pelourinho, the historic heart of Salvador and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Known for its cobblestone streets, colorful colonial buildings, and rich cultural heritage, Pelourinho is a place where history comes alive. We spent hours wandering through its narrow streets, marveling at the well-preserved architecture and vibrant street art.
One of the highlights was visiting the São Francisco Church and Convent, an architectural masterpiece adorned with intricate wood carvings and gilded altars. The opulence of the church’s interior was breathtaking, and it provided a stark contrast to the simplicity of the streets outside.
